Color of Change activates its members to take action on crucial issues—from criminal justice to media representations to the social safety net and voter freedom—so that it can build the power necessary to transform the written and unwritten rules of society. Its work – both rapid response and long-term campaigns for change – amplifies the voices of Black folks and its allies, building power and delivering meaningful wins that create consequences for racial injustice and build momentum for implementing solutions that move all people forward.
Color of Change is a non-profit organization that believes that content matters and we must support efforts of change in Hollywood to ensure accurate, inclusive, empathetic and human portrayals of people of color on the screen. From SELMA to 13TH to A WRINKLE IN TIME, Ava DuVernay has set out to change the rules in Hollywood for people of color and women. By casting Storm Reid – a Black teenage girl – as the heroine at the center of this story, young people of color will see someone like them embracing their individuality and strength to bring light to the world.
